Milton Margai Technical University (MMTU), located in Freetown, Sierra Leone, has a rich history of evolving to meet the educational needs of the nation. It began as the Teacher Training Department at Fourah Bay College, Mount Aureol, focusing on training primary school teachers. In 1960, the department relocated to Tower Hill, becoming the Freetown Training College for Teachers. By 1963, it moved to Goderich and was renamed Milton Margai Teachers College in honor of Sierra Leone's first Prime Minister, Sir Milton Margai. Over the years, the institution expanded its programs, achieving degree-awarding status in 1995 as Milton Margai College of Education. In 2001, it transformed into Milton Margai College of Education and Technology (MMCET), offering a diverse range of courses from certificates to degrees. In 2020, the college was elevated to university status, becoming Milton Margai Technical University, with a focus on technical and vocational education. The University operates in three campuses in Freetown. The Goderich campus is the main campus and the Congo Cross and Brookfields campuses are the others.

Vision Statement: To be a premier institution in Teacher/Technical/Vocational Education and Training and Research, continually enhancing the capacity of its trainees and participants.

Mission Statement: To provide higher education and training, embodying the aspirations of the Sierra Leonean people and community through the creation, preservation, integration, transmission, and utilization of knowledge.
